About EcoMalaysia
Welcome to EcoMalaysia, Malaysia's first environmentally friendly, green lifestyle magazine. Ecomalaysia.org is the first of it's kind: a non profit making, online magazine that focuses entirely on environmental issues exclusive to Malaysia, reflective of all facets of our individual lives and is available free of charge worldwide.
Our aim is to be inclusive, information rich, contemporary, contentious, creative, inventive and eclectic in image and design.
The initial idea was to fill a gap in the market with a conventional hard copy, turn page, magazine such as can be found at any news stand. This way of providing a magazine leaves too many carbon footprints; one that requires the cutting down of trees to provide paper and the use of fossil fuels and motor vehicles for the distribution of the hard copy; not to mention the use of chemical inks for the printing process; hence the alternative idea to publish on the internet.
EcoMalaysia highlights current issues that impact on the environment both positively and negatively. Topics such as organic farming and sustainable crops, deforestation and urban reforestation, eco resorts, food production, governmental recycling initiatives, national policy, fair trade fashion, interior design and architectural developments accenting solar and environmental design ideas, will be showcased within our magazine. Green technology including hybrid cars and the use of friendly fuel will be examined and promoted.
Individuals, companies, and organisations who make a difference and set an example for green living will be given a platform. Sponsored fashion, art, photography and writing competitions will be hosted by EcoMalaysia on a regular basis encouraging participation from old and young, from all walks of life.
We aim to provide an open forum for information concerning green and ethical issues, a stage for individuals and commercial enterprises who live and work by these principles and are concerned with environmentally sound practices. Contributions will be welcomed and actively sought from those who have an opinion to express.
We hope that our small endeavour will be a catalyst to greater and weightier thoughts and activities concerning green and ethical issues in Malaysia, as well as being fun, entertaining, absorbing, resourceful and innovative. We are actively searching for contributors, sponsors and initiative makers, small and large. Please email us your thoughts!
Welcome to EcoMalaysia and here is to a greener future!
